Polywrapping - Why the middle of the road can be the best way forward of unique design features and comprehensive polywrap system offering flexibility, durability and ease of setup.
Our Mailwrap Polywrapper is a mid-range, automated polywrapping machine which provides the perfect balance
between speed and cost and is ideally suited to the market today.
Expensive higher speed machines that often require a long set up time and more operators are not appropriate to
the shorter runs that are now prevalent.
A lower cost, medium size machine that runs at good speeds and has a relatively no special set up is required; and the
Mailwrap Polywrapper machine is exactly that.
It is ideal for short runs as well as having the durability to handle longer runs.
It has a relatively small footprint and provides exceptional value for its highly capable performance.
The Mailwrap Polywrapper incorporates a number of unique design features that ensure it provides flexibility,
durability and ease of setup.
It is available with up to six station feeders and fitted with Print Registration as standard. It’s capabilities extend to wrapping
up to 22mm thickness at speeds of up to 6000 completed packs per hour.
Key Features
• Pivoting Touch Screen Control provides run information, error location and help pages
• Close fitting wrap
• Adjustable bag length
• Cassette loading system for film
• Print Registration
• Sequential start-up / clear down
• Top load feeders for ease of filling, without stopping the machine
• Miss and double feed detectors on feeders
• Document track sensors
• Low level sensors on feeders
• Multiple feeding from each feeder to a preset number
• Station linking, to increase loading capacity
• Hand feed position
• Simple set up and changeover
• Output delivered onto a conveyor stacker

Councils and In-house Mailing

Most Council’s currently have strategic
objectives that include raising the quality
of their services, improving efficiencies and
reducing costs.
One contribution to achieving these aims could be the introduction of new mailing systems or potentially bringing automated
mailing services in-house.
This article considers the potential advantages of in-house mailing for Councils and explain why many are now considering
the opportunities it provides.
The key potential benefits from in-house mailing services include:
• Performance and Governance Improvement - In-sourcing of mailing can deliver better service performance and improvements
against Best Value Indicators and Local Area Agreement targets. In particular, decision-making and mailing service delivery
can be brought closer together, enabling a stronger link to local policy targets
• Quality of service and value – it enables a sharper focus upon mailing service quality and value, which will in turn impact upon
improving performance and service quality for the Council, local residents and customers
• Cost-efficiency – Significant cost savings and improvements in efficiency can be achieved very quickly
• Community well-being and satisfaction - dramatic increases in user satisfaction from improved service levels and faster
communication are common
• Local economy benefits - it supports the development of stronger local supply chains and enhanced local employment
patterns (e.g. stationery, paper, etc.)
• Flexibility - it improves the flexibility of mailing services for local authorities so that they can be more adaptable and responsive
to changing needs
In addition, in-house mailing normally provides improved mailing service continuity and resilience. It improves the scalability of
mailing systems and capacity.
It can leverage transformation within the council; and it can lead to collaboration and sharing of services with other
neighbouring Councils, which can in turn provide opportunities for highlighting the improvements in mailing services.
It’s clear the the benefits of in-house mailing for Councils make a compelling argument. If you want to find out more about
whether in-house mailing is right for your council, contact KAS Paper Systems and we’ll be happy to help you analyse your
potential benefits and savings.

envelope is more likely to be opened than one with a window envelope
the latter being commonly associated with bills and junk mail.
So how can your mailing be made more effective, by having envelopes that are
personalised, without a major increase in cost.
Instead of using pre-printed envelopes that have gone through an extra process to
be pre-addressed and then matched to contents on the mailing/inserting line;
or printing onto the sealed envelopes after insertion on a separate device off line.
Either option is expensive and the former can slow the mailing process while problems
are resolved trying to synchronise envelopes and contents.
In-line envelope addressing is an intelligent process that can print an address and other information onto an envelope while
it is on the mailing/inserting line.
In the case of non-personalised documents, the inserting and addressing can be simply handled in one fast pass.
If the contents are also personalised, the system needs to be able to scan the contents as they feed through the inserter,
track their progress and print the corresponding information onto the outside of the envelope as it exits the inserter.
With the right equipment, this is fast, efficient and much more secure in terms of data matching.
The Mailmaster envelope inserters manufactured by KAS Paper Systems now have the facility to provide address printing in line.
Where the content documentation is personalised the Mailmaster will read a code on the primary document, and track the
document through the system.
The appropriate enclosures for that recipient/code are inserted into the envelope and sealed, and the ID code is passed on to
the address printer for it to look up the correct address and print it onto the envelope.
The envelope printing can include not only the recipient’s name and address but also logos and other messages to further
personalise the mailing.
The benefits of KAS Paper Systems in-line addressing are clear and financially significant:
• Lower Labour Costs - The in-line addressing technology developed by KAS Paper Systems is highly efficient and ensures that
mailing is still a one man operation. So with no need for pre-printing envelopes and lower labour costs there is a major saving
on mailing costs.
• Higher Accuracy and Reduced Down Time - The computerised reading and matching of contents to envelope means errors are
eradicated - which also means less down-time from stopping the machine and reconfiguring the software after a mismatch of
preprinted materials.
• A More Flexible Service – In-line addressing is cost effective and enables personalised mailings even for smaller runs.

Mailing Integrity - Exit Reading
<
KAS Mailmaster systems can now incorporate Exit Reading technology to deliver
even greater mailing integrity
The KAS Exit Reading technology uses BCR or 2D codes to check that the prime document
in a mailing has passed all the way through the system and exited out of the sealer and into
the stacker.
It does this by reading the code through the window of the envelope.
The technology will generally check the sequence number of the code and stop the machine
if there is a sequence error.
However it can also be used to match the code with what was fed on the prime document feeder (FSF), or against an external file.
A version is also available which will divert any envelopes with a sequence or miss-match error rather than stop the machine.
This technology is available for most of our Mailmaster systems.
Some machines require the technology to be factory fitted before delivery, whilst others can have the technology added at a later date;
although a software upgrade may also be required.
